On this 22nd day of September Anna Domini 1818 before me the Subscriber one of the Judges of the Sessions Court of Law and Equity for the said State personally appeared John Lacey aged Sixty two years resident in Onslow County in the State aforesaid who being by me first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provision made by the late act of Congress entitled an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and Naval Service of the United States in the revolutionary war, that he the said John Lacey enlisted in Pitt County in the State aforesaid in the Company Commanded by Captain N Keys of the Second North Carlina Regiment and afterward Commanded by Captain Edwd Vails on or about the 19th of September one thousand Seven hundred and seventy fivethat he continued to serve in the said Corps on the Continental establishment in the service of the United States until at least in March one thousand seven hundred and Eight when he was discharged in Pitt County at Greensville by James Armstrong, that he was in the battles of Brandy wine, Jarman Town, Monmonth and that he is in reduced circumstances and stands in need of the _____ of his County for Support and that he has no other evidence now in his possession of his services except the ammended certificate

This day Dunfy Jones and Daniel M Dulany appeared before me and being sworn in due form of law upon and sworn that John Lacey who has signed the forgoing affadavit is in reduced circumstances and stands in need of the assistance of his County for support as they _____ ______

I John Hall Judge & c. as aforsaid do certify that it appears to my satisfaction that the said John Lacey did serve in the revolutionary War as Stated in the precedding declaration against the _____ enemy for the term of Nine months on the Continental establishment And I do further certify that it appears to my satisfaction that the said John Lacey is in reduced circumstances and stands in need of his county for support and I now transmit the proceedings and testimony taken and has before me to the Secretary for the department of War Pursuant to the directions of the afore mentioned act of Congress
