Revolutionary War Pension Declaration R. 1368
State of Tennessee, Knox County
On this 17th day of October 1818 before me the subscriber One of the Judges of the Circuit Court for the State of Tennessee personally appeared Thomas Brummet age Sixty four years resident in the County of Anderson in said state of Tennessee who being by one first duly sworn according to law doth his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the pension and by the late act of Congress entitling an Act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary war that he the said Thomas Brummet enlisted in the State of Virginia in the year 1777 in the company commanded by Captain Cluff Shelton of the 10th Virginia Regiment in the regular service for three years that he continued to serve the United States said three years for which he entered and six months and was then discharged at Philadelphia by order of Genl George Washington that he has lost his discharge that he was in the battle of Brandywine at Monmouth and at Guilford, that he is in reduced circumstances and needs the assistance of his country for support that he has another ____ is now in his power of his said _____ that he has never been a pensioner and does hereby relinquish all claim to pensions heretofor provided for except by the act of congress and by which he now applies

On the day and date aforesaid also personally appeared Sherrod Bowman of Anderson County Tennessee who being duly sworn upon oath states that he has been acquainted with Thomas Burmmet who signed the above declaration ____ several years back and is well acquainted with him and his circumstances at the time that said Thomas Brummet is in reduced circumstances needs the assistance of country for support
