First Generation 
1. Elizabeth GRIFFITH, daughter of John GRIFFITH and Araminta JOHNSON, was born in Jul 1839 in KY
1 and died between 1900 and 1910 in Harlan Co., KY. Another name for Elizabeth was Betty.
Notes: There is only one verified marriage for Elizabeth. On the 6th of May 1871 Elizabeth married Alexander D. Estep. They were married by William Gross at William Days home. Their witnesses were Samuel Nolan and James Napier. By August of 1873 Alexander had filed for a divorce. A deposition in the case from his father Moses Estep dated the 20th of May 1875 states that "the Deft. refused at different times to do washing for Pltf. also refused to give him something to eat at different times when she cooked for herself and her children and all the children but the youngest one was not his". Family history has her possibly being married first to a John Miniard and that some of her children are from this marriage, but no records have been found to prove this.

Notes: Some of the information gathered on Sarah and her children were from her descendants. There is some differences in information. There are some areas where this information conflicts with each other. Further research is needed to verify this information. According to her death certificate was born 1 Apr. 1871 and died 12 Jan. 1951. She is listed as a widow and the daughter of Betsy Griffith and Sam Estep. Per some descendants, Sarah was possibly married to John Chasteen and/or Bill King. In the 1920 Harlan County census her surname is listed as Chasteen.

Marcellus Drive was depressed. A doctor suggested that he find something to keep busy. So Griffith, a veteran, decided to work as a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center off Cooper Drive. Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, Griffith visits and assists and tries to cheer up patients in Unit 5-N. Unit 5-N is for veterans in their late 50s and 60s.
