Second Generation
2. George BROCK (Jesse1) was born about 1777.32
Notes: Although no George Brock was mentioned in Elijah Brock's testimony given to Annie Walker Burns or listed in the Jan 1856 Harlan Co., KY Court Order, circumstantial evidence indicates a possible relationship between a George Brock and Jesse Brock.
George Brock can be located in the same areas of Russell Co., VA and Knox Co., KY as Jesse Brock. A George Brock appeared on the same tax list as Jesse in 1798, 1801 to 1813 and 1815-1817, along with land grants, which included Jesse and other family members. Brock Ancestry believes this gives evidence of a George Brock being the son of Jesse.
In 1806, a land grant wherein James Brock assigned a certificate over to Aaron Brock, both a George Brock and Jesse Brock are listed together as surveyors. In a grant in 1813 James Brock, assigned his certificate over to a George Brock. Other names listed on the certificate were that of Aaron Brock and William Blanton. In viewing the various land grants by Jesse and his sons, often members of Jesse's family made up the surveying team and by a George being listed among them, gives evidence of a family connection. By 1819, when Harlan was formed, no George Brock is listed in Knox or Harlan counties.

Notes: *Mentioned by name in Elijah Brock testimony given to Annie Walker Burns. Elijah states: "James Brock was the oldest son of Jesse Brock married Elizabeth." Notation by Burns reads "probably Osborn"
*Not listed in the Jan 1856 Harlan Co., KY Court Order as one of the six living heirs. Note: Probably deceased by that time. James' last legal record found thus far was a deed dated Jul 1839. He did not appear in the 1840 census. This narrows his date of death between these two dates.
*Some researchers gives James' name as James Calvin Brock. To date, no document has been located by Brock Ancestry to verify the middle name Calvin.

10. Charlotte BROCK (Jesse1) was born from 1794 to 180444 and died about 1821 about age 27.
Notes: There is no primary evidence confirming Charlotte Brock as the daughter of Jesse Brock. However, in Elijah Brock's testimony given to Annie Walker Burns, Elijah stated that Terry Melton was married to Jesse's daughter Sally. This has caused much confusion, making many believe Jesse's daughter Sally was married to both Terry Melton and John Coldiron. There is evidence that confirms Sally Brock and John Coldiron were married and together at the same time Terry Melton was married to his 2nd wife Sally Templeton, therefore confirming Jesse's daughter Sally was not married to Terry Melton. With the mentioning of Terry Melton in Elijah's interview, we at Brock Ancestry, believe there is a possibility that Terry Melton's first wife, who is claimed to be Charlotte Brock by Melton researchers, was the daughter of Jesse Brock. Until evidence is found to disprove this we shall enter Charlotte as a possible daughter of Jesse. Charlotte married Terry H. MELTON about 1818. Terry was born in 1791 in VA.164

Note: Jesse Brock has not been found in the 1830 census making it seem likely that the older male and female in this household would be Jesse and his wife.
