born about 1855 KY, died 2/1/1918 Clay Co., KY. Clarinda married
Madison "Matt" House in 1873 Clay Co., KY. She is thought to be the
daughter of John Brock & Sallie Woods from Tennessee.
Her brother is believed to be James M. Brock of Laurel Co., KY, born about
1845, died 1915.
James M. Brock sold land to Clarinda's husband Matt House - 8
Feb 1894, Deed Book 29 Page 17 with his wife Mary Brock, Laurel Co KY sold
to Mat House of Clay Co KY land for $650.00, land on waters of Horse Pigeon
Roost Branch Clay Co KY.
"James M. Brock born 6 Jan 1845, born KY, died age 70 of
apoplexy, Bush, Laurel Co. on 1/9/1915, listed father as John Brock, no
mother listed. Farmer, married, informant's name is F. R. Brock of Lida,
KY. Place of burial is Providence (Cemetery) undertaker London, KY. *Note:
There is a James Madison Brock b. 1846 Laurel Co KY died 1916 buried
Providence cemetery, Laurel Co KY. His father was Lt John Ragan Brock and
Palina Gideon mother b. est 1820-1825 TN with son Andrew Jackson Brock . So
this one is not Clarinda's brother as her parents were John Brock and Sallie
Woods Brock. **Note: Son to James M. Brock and Mary Rowland is Andrew
Jackson Brock b. 1 Apr 1878 Laurel Co. KY d. 30 Jun 1951 cerebral hemorrhage
at age 72 buried at Lida KY, farmer, lived Rt 4, rural, London, KY, married.

Washington Brock was born in May of 1827 (Source: 1900
Jessamine County, Kentucky Federal Census) in Knox Co., KY. (Source:
Washington Brock's Military papers of Civil War)
On Oct. 14, 1855, Washington married Vianna Frances Giles,
daughter of Elijah and Susannah Hardin Giles on Clear Creek, Rockcastle Co.,
KY. He stated that he was born in Rockcastle County and Vianna in Madison
County, Ky. However, the 1874 Jessamine
County, Ky. Birth Record of their youngest son, Riley, stated that
Washington was born in Knox County, Ky.). Also, When Macager (Mack) Brock
was young (born 1871) he told of a trip his father, Washington, took on
horse back to see his sister in Knox County.
On April 27, 1864, Washington Brock appears with the rank of
Pvt on Muster & Descriptive Roll of a Detachment of U.S. Vols forwarded for
the 7th KY CAV at Louisville, KY. He was described as follows: Born in
Knox Co., KY. Age 33 years, farmer
when enlisted at Camp Burnside, Ky., for three years. Eyes - dark, hair -
dark, complexion -dark. 5 feet 8 1/2 inches. When he mustered in April 27,
1864, in Louisville, Ky he was paid Bounty of $60.0/100 credited to Knox
County, Co D, Ky. "13.00 advance pay paid mustered from 1 year Regt into 3
years service per instructions from War Dept Dec 1, 1863
