Welcome to Brock Ancestry, previously known as Brocks of Southeastern KY

The goal of this website is to document the Brock line of Kentucky with the main subject of research being  the line of Jesse Brock, progenitor of the Brocks that lived  in southeastern Kentucky.  Here you will find hard source documentation in the form of public records, consisting of census, court records, deeds, etc for the line of Jesse Brock and other Brocks.  As verified in Jesse's pension, he was born in Virginia.  In our quest to learn Jesse's ancestry, our research has expanded to include data pertaining to the Brocks in Virginia, as well as others.  Also included in our research expansion are Brock Revolutionary War soldiers and other data. 

BROCK CONNECTIONS

Matches within the Brock DNA surname project (see below) have proved the sharing of a common ancestor between the descendants of Jesse Brock and those of other Brock lines.  These matches have expanded our research beyond the boundaries of Kentucky and into early Virginia to a group of Brocks whose progenitor was a George Brock, born about 1680, who can be located as early as 1703 in New Kent Co., Virginia.  Members of this George Brocks family were located in Albemarle, Goochland, Cumberland, Hanover as well as other counties in Virginia.  Efforts are underway to gather as much data and information available on this line of Brocks. 

BROCK DNA PROJECT

In the spring of 2005 the new Brock DNA Project began. For those that are not familiar with genetic genealogy, a male of today will carry the same genetic markings as his direct male ancestor many generations back.  By comparing each participants markers to others in the project, we can determine if they shared a common ancestor.  There have been many surprises in this project with connections made between lines that were previously unknown.
